MANASSAS, VA (April 4, 2018) -- On March 29, Silent Treatment Entertainment hosted their locally-organized live poetry and open mic night on the islands of Waikiki in Honolulu bringing out more than 130 attendees to the Artistry nightclub.

This sold out VIP event featured artists from Hawai’i Poets Society and offered art enthusiasts an opportunity to completely immerse themselves into a variety of spoken word styles, music genres, political and social pieces, and scantily-clad performances over erotic poetry. Hosted by Mr. Luciano and co-hosted by Simply Tee Poetry, Spirits and Lyrics Hawai’i is the first high-brow open mic and poetry night of its kind that included reserved table seating and champagne and wine bottle service.

At Spirits and Lyrics, everyone is to always respect the mic and to embrace the stage as the comfort zone: the space where artists can become completely uncomfortable and free. Unlike many other open mic events, Silent Treatment Entertainment focuses on the artists which has led to their global presence. Led by team member, Just a Vessel the event has toured and performed In Bangladesh, Russia and Japan.

Formerly known as Poetry Night, Spirits and Lyrics was created after attending a poorly hosted open mic night at one of Washington DC’s premier poetry venues.

“The host was rude and it wasn’t a good experience. So I wanted to create a space for artists to breathe in a judgement free zone,” said Mr. Luciano.

Poetry night began in Manassas at a venue called 90 degrees. When Simply Tee Poetry and Mr. Luciano connected at one Poetry Night, he asked her to host the event in which she later coined the series as Spirits and Lyrics. The duo birth a partnership and in October 2010 Silent Treatment Entertainment began hosting Spirits and Lyrics at the City Tavern in Manassas.

Spirits and Lyrics Hawai’i was a unfiltered experience that debuted live performances from local artists, residents, and military community. The event did not include a headliner and instead leveraged the city’s genuine aloha spirit and Honolulu’s native talent to deliver a memorable evening for artists and attendees, alike.
