WASHINGTON (April 26, 2018) -The Chronicles of Women in White Coats is a self-published book co-authored by 20 female physicians from around the world who are opening up about the realities of working in the world of medicine. The book chronicles the personal journeys of each woman's unique story from immigration, mental health, family, friendships, and thriving medical careers.
The book narrates each of these women’s stories as they open up about the challenges in managing their families, personal life and social circles while being doctors to their patients. Led by family medicine specialist, Dr. Amber Robins, this event will be a space for aspiring professional women to gain greater insight as they transition into the world of medicine or in other professions.
“These doctors choose to tell their own stories and be unapologetically brave about gender barriers. All the authors choose to have tough conversations regarding the experiences of female professionals in medicine and dentistry that many people aren’t comfortable talking about,” Robins said.
Each contributing author has their own individual perspective yet collectively they share the same mission. With each story, the authors hope to prepare future generations for the unexpected challenges of life from within the medical profession.
The book signing and brunch accompanied by a live jazz performance will take place at the Hamilton Live (600 14th St NW) in Washington, DC on May 19 from 11am-3pm.
