In Washington, DC, a private chef service launched in 2020 during the city's 3rd annual Private Chef Week. 1. The founder of Chef X Concepts is a black woman. Period.

2. The company launched with little to no capital until it finally received a $15,000 investment from a local real estate developer in 2019. 

3. Before the company officially launched last September the founder and her partners would host small tastings with chefs around the city and invite friends to try out the concept for free.

4. At its inception the company was called Homemade but changed before introducing itself to the public.

5. The company prides itself on its ability to eliminate price negotiating. It is the only private chef service that operates on a fixed price model that changes based on the guest count not the menu type. So regardless of the chef, you pay the same price which creates fair competition.

6. The company began in 2017 and waited 4 years to publicly release its first series of chefs online.
