Successful KidBizCON 2024 Inspires Young Entrepreneurs at Bard High School

WASHINGTON (August 30, 2024) — The 2024 KidBizCON held at Bard High School was a resounding success, bringing together over 300 enthusiastic student attendees eager to explore the world of entrepreneurship.

The highlight of the event was the Pitch Competition, which provided a dynamic platform for youth to present their innovative business ideas. Over 30 students showcased their entrepreneurial spirit, pitching to a distinguished panel of judges composed of local government entities and business leaders. In total, $5,000 in seed funding was awarded to the top pitches, offering critical resources to help these young innovators launch their ventures.

Participants in the pitch competition gained invaluable hands-on experience in presenting their ideas, answering challenging questions, and receiving constructive feedback, significantly boosting their confidence and entrepreneurial skills. Many students reported in the post-event survey that the competition was a pivotal moment in their entrepreneurial journey, inspiring them to refine and develop their business concepts further.

Additionally, approximately a dozen workshop speakers shared their expertise throughout the day, covering various topics such as marketing strategies, financial literacy, and business planning. The workshops equipped students with practical tools and insights, enriching their understanding of what it takes to succeed in the business world.

This year's event was marked by inspirational remarks from key figures, including Executive Director Natasha Dupee of the Mayor's Office, Director of the Commission on Arts and Humanities Aaron Myers, and Dr. Oye Owolewa from the House of Representatives, who each underscored the importance of nurturing young business minds. Their were also in-kind sponsors from Chef X Concepts and Swahili Village.

The success of KidBizCON 2024 showcases the potential of our young entrepreneurs and the impact of community support in nurturing their ambitions. We look forward to seeing these aspiring business leaders continue to thrive and innovate.
