WASHINGTON (July 28, 2020)—Celebrity cake artist Tiffany Lightfoot opens My Cake Theory, a fast casual bakery on Capitol Hill at Eastern Market’s Main Street located at 325 7th St. SE this September.

The fast-casual bakery will include a “flavors to frills” concept that allows customers to build their own cupcakes by selecting cupcake flavors, fillings, frostings, and toppings. This design will be similar to popular restaurant chains such as &Pizza and Chipotle. The chic, boutique-style design creates a unique confectionery experience with interactive message boards and photo opportunities. Indoor and outdoor seating will be available with a walk-up window and delivery for convenience. 

“It’s always been my dream to open a storefront bakery and being able to bring “flavors to frills” to life is simply icing on the cake. Our customers will truly be able to satisfy all of their cravings with endless flavor combinations. If this is a dream, I never want to wake up,” said owner Tiffany Lightfoot.

Lightfoot is a self-taught, 3D cake artist who first started baking in 2008 after she was inspired by the creativity of Food Network cake artists like Duff Goldman from “Ace of Cakes”. She then decided to take up the career full-time, opening My Cake Theory from her home in 2019. As a former Fashion Institute of Technology student, Lightfoot uses her background in fashion to create trendsetting, detailed cake designs. Over the years, the D.C. native has grown her business to include clients such as Grammy-nominated rap artist MC Lyte and social media giant Twitter Inc. 

My Cake Theory is scheduled to open its doors at its new Capitol Hill/Eastern Market location early this Fall.
