WASHINGTON (July 12, 2022) – Leading up to its inaugural event this September, Black Golfers’ Weekend highlights Black women in golf in commemoration of the PGA’s annual Family and National Golf Months this summer.

Fortunately, when it comes to golf today, African American men are starting to receive more recognition than before. Tiger Woods and Harold Varner III are becoming household names for all American families. Though, many women have still struggled to receive recognition. From legends like Ann Greogry, the first woman of color to enter the USGA Women’s Amateur, Althea Neale Gibson, the first African American to win a Grand Slam title to Washington DC’s Tari Cash, Founder and CEO of City Swing, whose mission is to make golf fun and convenient for everyone, women have been an integral part of the growth of golf.

“Women have always been nation builders, paving the way and making it possible for many more to aim higher and reach farther. In light of the current climate, it is imperative that we shed light on the accomplishments of women and the milestones they’ve achieved,” said Amy Williams, Founder of Black Golfers’ Weekend.

Among others, Black Golfers’ Weekend honors trailblazers Mariah Stackhouse, professional golfer and the seventh African American player to qualify for the LPGA, Tiffany Mack Fitzgerald, founder and CEO of Black Girls Golf, Kendall Jackson, member of Howard University’s Division 1 Inaugural Golf Team, and Kelsey Nicole Nelson, award-winning Fox Sports News journalist, who will be speaking at the inaugural Black Golfers’ Weekend.

Black Golfers’ Weekend is a three-day event series to celebrate the past, present, and future of African Americans throughout the game of golf. The event is all inclusive and will feature personalities from various industries including sports, business, and music. It will be hosted by one of the legendary names in Hip Hop, Master Gee.
