Coffy Cafe Partners with Thrive DC and Trades Coffee For Coats
The local Columbia Heights coffee shop plans to give away 100 cups of coffee in exchange for winter donations to help provide unhoused men, women, and children with outerwear items
WASHINGTON (November 18, 2019) - Coffy Cafe partners with Thrive DC and trades coffee for outerwear donations for their inaugural 100 Cups For Coats Campaign from November 18 to December 7.
This mod, 60s coffee shop in the Columbia Heights corridor will extend a free cup of coffee to donors who drop-off outwear items that help support Thrive DC’s mission to serve the District’s most vulnerable community members and clients at their location. Eligible donations include new or gently used coats, scarves, gloves, socks, and even backpacks.
“At Coffy Cafe, we see first-hand the homelessness that is affecting our community and we wanted to help contribute to being a part of the solution because it affects all of us,” says Yahya Sardari owner of Coffy Cafe.
For three weeks, Coffy Cafe challenges donors to help them keep the giant coffee cup of clothes at least half-full and hopes to give away at least 100 cups of coffee to reach their goal of at least 100 donations. Coffy Cafe serves as just one of the many donation centers that support Thrive DC’s mission to combat homelessness in the District.
