“Bloom Back Better” Campaign Supports Teachers Wellness Through Plant Gifting and Green Therapy for Mental Health Awareness Month
WASHINGTON (April 28, 2025) — Instructional Gym, a wellness-centered organization focused on empowering educators, in partnership with Women of Worth, Inc, proudly announces the launch of its Bloom Back Better campaign, an initiative created to support teachers facing anxiety, burnout, and grief — including the unthinkable: the loss of a student.
In partnership with beloved local plant and lifestyle boutique She Loves Me, the campaign provides free plants and green therapy tools to educators across the District of Columbia as a living reminder of renewal, resilience, and rest.
“Our teachers are often expected to pour endlessly into others, even while managing personal pain and professional pressure,” says Teresa Lasley, founder of Instructional Gym. “Bloom Back Better is our way of helping them heal — one plant, one classroom, one breath at a time.”
Plant Gifting and Healing Gardens
Starting this Teacher Appreciation Week, educators throughout DC will begin to receive their generous donations from the local plant shops, nonprofits, and community members as part of the Bloom Back Better campaign. In addition to receiving plants, teachers can also choose to receive information about wellness activities and events - some curated specifically for educators,
Lasley believes that wellness is a priority and not an afterthought. As such she also champions Classroom Healing Gardens — small-scale indoor garden installations that bring peace, color, and mindfulness to teachers. These mini gardens offer teachers and students a green sanctuary for reflection, joy, and connection — especially in the face of trauma and emotional fatigue.
The Bloom Back Better event will take place on Wednesday, May 21 in Union Market. This will be the designated location for all plant donations for educators. In addition, the 100 registered educators will be able to pick up their plants and enjoy potting activations. The campaign is open to all public and charter school educators in Washington, DC, and will continue throughout Teacher Appreciation Week and Mental Health Awareness Month this May.
